Onsite training

Let us come to you

If you need to develop the skills of several people at the same time, then you can save money by having us deliver a course at your site. To get even better value, you could also team up with a nearby helpline - you would pay the same whether we train 7 people or 14.

Your service doesn't need to have the word 'helpline' in its title. Your people may be dealing with customer service enquiries. They may be providing expert help, or maybe they are peer befrienders or buddies. Your people may have years of experience or be brand new in the job.

We can tailor the material to reflect your service, subject matter, audience and the existing skills and knowledge of your people.

What participants and clients say
Participants score our on-site courses highly. From 690 participants across 68 courses in 2009/10, the average rating for a course was 4.5 out of 5.

And here's what clients say about us:

The training for managers and helpline advisers has been excellent
Gavin Thomas, Helplines Co-ordinator, ProMo-Cymru (MEIC)

The feedback from the training has been really positive
Louisa McKee, Training Manager, Citizens Advice Belfast

The feedback has been very positive and [the trainers] were a joy to work with.
Milad Ahmed, Muslim Youth Helpline

THA has brought a significant level of authority and credibility to our volunteer events. THA has helped us recognise the importance of the debriefer role and highlighted the distinction between support and supervision which has enabled us to clarify staff structures. THA's work has also opened up and informed the debate on self-disclosure in our In-Contact service.
Deborah Hodges, Crohn's and Colitis UK

Key facts about on-site training

Our courses are very participative, so small groups work best. We train a maximum of 15 learners at a time.
We do not normally require any special equipment except flip-chart and flip-chart pads/pens and a venue large enough to accommodate participants in an open 'U' shape with two or three tables at the side.

We will agree a programme with learning outcomes. These are usually taken from one of more of our existing one-day courses. If tailoring of the structure or content of the training is required, we will normally need at least one month's lead time.

Cost

Prices start at £670 + VAT (full members in the voluntary sector) or €879 (voluntary sector international members) for a standard THA course. Final prices depend on the level of tailoring required. The prices given exclude trainer expenses. Additional charges apply for weekend work.

We are happy to work with groups made up of participants from two different helplines. Please note. however, that we will need a single lead client, and that, unless you are teaming up with a helpline that serves the same audience and topic area as you do, it is probably better for us to deliver a 'standard' course.
