The Membership Process

Membership forms can be obtained from the THA office on 020 7089 6321 or by completing the membership request form.

All sections of the application form are required to be completed in as much detail as possible.

If you are applying for Voting Membership, you must include all relevant policies along with evidence of your training plan. Acceptance into Associate Membership in not dependent on having these policies.

We strongly recommend that you read the THA Guidelines for Good Practice (£4.50) which you can order here.

The THA will assess the completed application form, and contact you to discuss your service, procedures and policies. Should your polices not yet be fully in place, please still complete your application as the THA can assist you in working towards meeting our criteria. If satisfied, your application will be recommended to the Executive Committee, who has ultimate responsibility for accepting helplines into membership. The Executive Committee meets on average every 6 weeks.

You will be informed as to the decision and if accepted, will receive a Welcome Pack, which includes more detailed information about the THA.  Should your application be unsuccessful, you will be advised of the reasons.

We will require information about your funding for invoicing, as THA membership fees are banded according to the financial turnover of the organisation.

Cost of Membership
starts at £24.00 for associates and £30.00 for voting members.

Once accepted as a member your service will be periodically reassessed to ensure that membership criteria are still being met.
