Firstly, welcome, and thanks for joining the forum.
This is an introductory guide to finding your way around.
In this section - 'Welcome' - you will find the house rules and user guide, and we welcome your comments on these. What do you think is appropriate use of this forum? How user-friendly was the sign-up process? Is there anything you would like added to the user guide?
You will also find a thread where you can introduce yourself and your helpline. This is of course optional but the forum will work best when we know who we're communicating with. We want this forum to help people network, share information and learn from each other. Besides, it's a great opportunity to promote your helpline and what you've been doing lately. Talking of which, there is also a thread where you can announce new projects, initiatives, events etc from your helpline.
The forum is mainly moderated by me, Deirdre Rusling, Communications Officer at THA. Some of my colleagues will also be dropping in from time to time.
If you need any help at any time, contact me at deirdre.rusling@helplines.org.uk or call me on 0141 553 5532. We look forward to talking with you!

New forum help
Hi Deirdre,
This forum is a great idea! The sign-up process was very straightforward, the only thing is that it only gives us the option of living in the 'United States' but it still let me join without putting a particular home State in.
Now I have registered I can't find how I get onto my Account to edit my photo and also it says 'groups joined: none' - how do I join a group?
I look forward to exploring the different threads, and communicating and sharing ideas with other helplines very soon.
Best wishes,
Laura

Hi Laura
I'll answer here on the forum as other people might be wondering the same things:
Countries
We've sorted the countries available so now you can pick from all countries in the world. When you select your country, you should then be able to select from the relevant counties or regions in that country.
Groups
We have just enabled 'groups' - starting with groups for helplines that are piloting the new Quality Standard. We may then move on to create a group just for THA members. If you have a suggestion for other groups or topics please let me know. We could easily set up a group or a sub-forum depending on what's most appropriate. Groups allow you to access private areas of the website and forum, whereas sub-forums are not necessarily private and can be viewed by anybody.
Amending profile & pictures
We realise finding your profile isn't that easy so we're working on a redesign that will let you access your profile from the top of any page. In the meantime, you can find your profile beside any posts you make. If you click your name that will open up your profile. Then click 'edit' to be able to make changes, add or change your photograph and signature, etc.
Hope that helps you and others!
Best wishes
