about special rates for members of the Telephone Helplines Association
on telephone interpreting services from Language Line. These rates are
available to charity helplines which are Full Voting members of the
Telephone Helplines Association (THA). If you would like to find out

Language
Line is a 24-hour telephone interpreting service, which provides
immediate access to qualified interpreters in over 100 languages.
An increasing number of public and voluntary service organisations are
subscribing to Language Line to help them communicate with their local
ethnic communities. Language Line is a national company with a diverse
client base including local authorities, charities, healthcare,
emergency services and commercial clients in addition to helplines.
Helplines form an important part of Language Line's customer base. The
fact that interpreters in over 100 languages can be connected into a
conference call within seconds makes the system perfect for helpline
staff. The service is very user friendly. Once a helpline worker has
identified the caller's language, they call Language Line's team of operators who connect them immediately to an interpreter in the
requested language. This takes about 90 seconds. The interpreter will
then translate exactly what both parties say.
The
THA offers members special access to Language Line’s interpreting
services at a much reduced rate. THA pays an annual management charge on members’ behalf,
which means that members need only pay for the minutes they use:

Members with income up to £500,000 per annum £1.77 plus VAT per
minute

Members with income £500,000 to £1,000,000 per annum £2.05 plus
VAT per minute

Members with income £1,000,000 per annum £2.40 plus VAT per
minute
These rates represent significant discounts from Language Line’s
standard rates, and are only available to THA member helplines which are
charities.
