Minister Jacqui Smith launched the new Quality Standard for Mental
Health Helplines and two publications based on it: a Workbook for
Helplines and Guidance for Funders. There was also a presentation on
the results of a
unique public survey of awareness of, and attitudes to, mental health
helplines
The Mental Health
Helplines Partnership , funded by the Department of Health and facilitated
by the Telephone Helplines Association, is developing a strategic approach
to the provision of mental health helplines, in support of the National
Service Framework for Mental Health. The Partnership includes Samaritans,
Rethink, Mind, Saneline, Mental Health Matters and many others in the
voluntary sector, along with NHS Direct.
